The martial arts have been a part of Sensei John’s life – essentially since birth. Kancho introduced him to the art — before he could even realize what was to come. John has been training officially at Almeida’s Karate since the age of six and has continually been a part of the AIKA family ever since. He continued to train diligently and attained his junior Shodan at the age of thirteen and recently attained his 3rd degree Black Belt in 2015, earning him the title of Sensei.
Sensei John is invaluable to Kancho Almeida and Almeida’s Shotokan Karate School. He is instrumental in the group classes and introducing the new students to the basics of karate and serves as a phenomenal role model as they grow and learn in the art.
Sensei John credits his knowledge and development in karate to not only his father but to Shihan Wayne Mello and Sensei Jack Leonardo for their love, friendship and many lessons learned over the years.
